The birth of Kayden Reignes took place about a year ago shortly after recording a five song E.P. with Denver’s “The Fong Jones Band,” an original rock group that a good friend of mine Jody Calhoun and I founded back in 2002. I had written dozens of bits and pieces to songs that seemed to be leading into a different direction than what our group was doing at the time so while taking a short break from band I decided to finish some of my “works in progress.” 

     After digging through boxes full of notepads, thoughts scribbled on napkins, cigarette packs and sticky notes I started piecing things together, gluing views to thoughts, this to that and so on. Somewhere in the debris of scattered pages a few songs surfaced. With a little money and a lot of help from the far over-talented Jeremy Lawton, (whose credentials surpass the space on this page) I decided to record a few of my old ideas as well as some new ones I’d been working on. This is what became of three hundred dollars, seven hours of studio time and notepads I’d long since forgotten.


     For me, a second identity seemed the best way to separate what I was and still am working towards with “The Fong Jones Band” from what I enjoy doing on the side which is merely writing down life as I see it verse by verse.
